Finding perfection in the curve.

I gravitate toward organic forms found in nature. These pieces are inspired by traditional Japanese design, logos, and sacred geometry. These flower-like sculptures combine traditional ideas of beauty with the precise flow of curves and notions of cultural meaning.

I intuitively start with an inspired shape cut from a roll of stainless steel mesh, then sewn with wire, and lathed in a plaster  bandage.  The sculpture changes completely as it transitions from wire mesh to a solid object which has been meticulously lathed and carved in layers of plaster.These flower-like  forms balance the visual language of nature and the natural environment with the perfection of geometric form.
